Mistakes to avoid when installing a panoramic
Installing panoramic wallpaper is easy when you are well prepared and organized. In this article you will find tips to avoid wasting time or failing to install your magnificent wall decoration.
⏱ Reading time: 5 minutes
1. Before installing your mural
Getting the dimensions of your wall wrong
Essential to planning the right amount of panoramic wallpaper for your wall, it is important to take the correct wall dimensions.
To ensure you take your correct measurements, get a tape measure, and don't hesitate to take the height of your wall in several places (start and end of your wall to be wallpapered). Ceilings are not always perfectly straight, if you take different measurements, choose to order the largest dimension.
In case you made a mistake in your measurements, you risk ending up with part of your wall uncovered; and unfortunately in this case, we will not be able to reprint any continuity of your panoramic fresco.
Why, you might ask?
For three obvious reasons:
The continuity of the design of your panoramic fresco does not exist, no connection could be ensured between the first print and the second, then a difference in bath between the two wallpapers not printed at the same time can be distinguished. So, to your meters!
Paste wallpaper without preparing your wall
The urgent need to put up your new wallpaper gives you crazy ideas! So crazy in fact that you want to switch the step of preparing your wall. We agree with you, it could be tempting. However, not preparing your wall before wallpapering it is a very big mistake, even if, visually, you have the impression that you have nothing to do.
Neglecting to prepare your wall for hanging wallpaper is like inviting your wallpaper to tear or peel off prematurely. That would be a real shame. So, take a few moments, lightly sand your wall, clean it with a damp microfiber cloth, and paint it a light, even color.
If you have applied paint before installing your panoramic wallpaper, it is advisable to allow 2 weeks for it to dry.
Choosing the wrong wallpaper glue
Just as there are different types of wallpaper, there are also different types of glue. Each glue has its own specificities and characteristics to properly perform its function, depending on the wallpaper chosen.
Cellulose glue is mainly suitable for lightweight woven wallpapers, with double gluing. Vinyl wallpaper glue is particularly recommended for vinyl non-woven wallpapers, which are heavy and embossed wallpapers. This glue is much more resistant, given the characteristics of vinyl wallpaper.
Then there is the glue for non-woven wallpaper. This glue is distinguished by its ease of use: no need for double gluing, just gluing to the wall is sufficient.
Ultimately, choosing the right glue for your wallpaper is essential, otherwise your panoramic wallpaper may not stick to your wall, despite your efforts and your application. Our image advice ->
"On the advice of our decorator @manoa_deco_ we chose the red cable car wallpaper. It gives depth to our living room. The result is very beautiful and realistic. Easy to install. We are very satisfied!"
Isabelle
"The wallpaper is exactly what I was looking for, and brings a touch of good humor to the room. Too bad it is now partly hidden by the headboard. A suggestion: add characters in the cabins. The installation was relatively easy, and the paper is of good quality"
Jean Pierre
"Another project with mural concept is always the same success. I thank you all and the design team"
